The NOVA team had a productive weekend of racing. Despite the dire predictions of rainfall, we were fortunate to avoid any significant precipitation in the DC area, and Saturday morning dawned overcast but dry and cool. Several team members participated in the DC Rock'n'Roll Marathon and Half Marathon, while others ventured outside the DC area to participate in the Shamrock Marathon and Half Marathon in Virginia Beach, VA. The verdict is out on the new course for DC Rock'n'Roll, and the reviews are mostly positive. Mark Drosky states "I enjoyed the course. Fast course, in my opinion." Despite the dearth of porta-potties, the race went off mostly without a hitch, a much improved experience over the logistical snafus that plagued last year's Rock'n'Roll.
The number of PRs, Age Group placers, and strong finishes this weekend represent the impact of the work the team has put in to date. Now that the weather is warming up, days are longer, and the track is open for business, we expect the spring training season to heat up and even better results to follow.
